Did you know that The Red Lion Inn (Quakertown,Pa) was a meeting place for John Fries during the run up to the Fries Rebellion? John Fries (a length of rt 663 near Trumbauersviile,Pa is named after him) fought as a commander under George Washington to suppress the Whiskey rebellion in 1794 and then five years later led the fight against the federal government to end the Direct House tax of 1798. Quite the rebel…And I love that his dog’s name was WHISKEY! Have a scotch at McCoole’s and toast those rebellious Pennsylvania Dutch!
